Five Things You Can Declutter Today!

5 Things to Declutter Today

We all have items in our homes that no longer serve us — they take up space, create clutter, and add unnecessary stress to our lives. The good news? You can start small. Here are five things you can throw away today — no guilt, no second-guessing.

1. Long Expired Pantry Items

Open your pantry or kitchen cupboard and check the back corners. You’ll likely find items that expired years ago. Toss anything that’s well past its best-before date, those long ago stale crackers, those mystery items you can no longer identify. Bonus: This frees up space and helps you take stock of what you actually need.

2. Old Magazines and Catalogs

Unless it’s a collector’s edition or holds sentimental value (and be honest!), there’s no reason to hang on to stacks of outdated reading material. Recycle them or donate current ones to a local waiting room — but otherwise, let them go.

3. Mystery Cords and Chargers

We all have a drawer full of tangled cords for devices we no longer own. If you can’t identify what it powers — or if the device it goes to is long gone — it’s safe to toss or recycle it. Consider keeping just one or two universal chargers that still work for your current devices.

4. Damaged or Mismatched Tupperware

Say goodbye to plastic containers with no lids, stained bottoms, or cracked edges. They’re not doing you any favours, and they make organizing your kitchen harder. Recycle what you can and replace with a few high-quality, matching pieces.

5. Clothes You’ll Never Wear Again

If it’s stretched out, faded, or hasn’t fit in years, it’s time to let it go. Focus on pieces you actually wear and love. Donate gently used clothing, and toss anything too worn to pass along. Your closet will breathe easier — and so will you.

Decluttering doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Start with these five easy wins, and you’ll gain momentum to tackle the rest — one drawer, one shelf, one room at a time.
